Ubuntu in simple terms means “I am who I am because of who we are”.
A few years ago a friend and I had brief sessions with a professor where we discussed a lot about the South African ethical concept termed “Ubuntu”. At the end of each session he would always share his research papers with us to enable us ponder on the concepts and prepare for the next session.
So many years have gone by and I am still grateful because the knowledge gained in those sessions have helped form some of my beliefs today.
Here is the thing about the SDGs, it takes you out of yourself and shows you the bigger picture. It pushes you to think not only about yourself but the world as a whole.
At the end of the day the SDGs strive to give each and every individual a fair chance at life; Simple things like a meal on the table, access to good education, a safer world for everyone, clean and affordable energy etc..
The SDGs are not complicated!
So take some time out to learn about the SDGs today and find out what roles you can play to help achieve them by 2030.
