About us

how we started

Project 17 is a Female-founded organization!

As an organization founded by two great women, International Women’s Day is special to us. Every year we mark the moment by providing capacity building workshops to women in our communities.

Who are we without our Kids!

Project 17 aims to teach adolescents about the global Goals and we believe this is achievable.

Through interactive lessons tailored to suit various adolescent age groups, learners get to understand what the Global Goals for Sustainable Development

We want to inspire people to make a difference. We want to engage the public. This discussion will lead to action thereby making a difference.

Through an exciting curriculum that motivates learners by adding relevance and dynamism to lessons about the SDGs, young people of all ages develop an appreciation of cultural diversity, allowing learners to enjoy a better understanding of the world.

Our Story

About Us

Our Story

There are more young people in the world than ever before, creating unprecedented potential for economic and social progress. Many of the global challenges to development are especially salient for children and youth. Project 17 hopes to build a network of young and vibrant individuals who will take action. Individuals who will enlighten the world about the 17 goals and collaborate to ensure that the goals are achieved by 2030.

Our Mission & Vision

We are the 17 Sustainability Initiative. We refer to ourselves as “Project 17”.

The aims and objectives of the association are:

Opportunity

Staying true to our values and in line with Goal 17 of the SDGs, over the past 4 years we have partnered with various non-profit organizations and private sector players to support our communities through several initiatives ranging from relief support post-disaster to regular feeding programs in our most vulnerable communities.

Impact on the community

We are The Change

We are here for our community when they need us!

According to UNFPA, there are about 1.8 billion young people
between the ages of 10 and 24 – the largest youth population
ever. Many of them are concentrated in developing countries.
In fact, in the world’s 48 least developed countries, children or
adolescents make up a majority of the population.

Short Term Goals

Project 17 aims to teach adolescents about the Global Goals and we believe this is achievable. We want more young people acting on the goals so the first task is bringing these goals to their knowledge. Through interactive lessons tailored to suit various adolescent age groups, learners get to understand what the Global Goals for Sustainable Development are, why they are important and how they relate to the learner her/himself

Long Term Goals

Project 17 aims to look at what is going on locally and what solutions can be found locally. What are the causes? What are people already doing about the issues and what is working or not working? We want to inspire people to make a difference. We want to engage the public. This discussion will lead to action thereby making a difference

Just one spark could light the fire of change

Children are at the core of what we do because education is important to us. We are raising an army of environmentally and socially conscious citizens.

Our Case

Building Our Case

Dreaming It, Speaking It, Doing it.

Through a series of well thought out and planned interactive sessions with children, aProject 17 hopes to get children to think critically of what they can do to make the world a better place. At the end of each session we expect the children to know and understand the Global Goals. We expect the children will have particular action plans on how they support any of the Global Goals they feel so strongly about. We hope to inspire children to act and work with them to find ways in which they can incorporate acting on the global Goals in their daily lives.
